Sun Moon Lake Swimming Carnival incl. 3km and 10km
Event overview
Sun Moon Lake Swim
The annual Soon Moon Lake swim has been held every year, around the Mid-Autumn Festival, since 1983, with swimmers from Taiwan and overseas coming together to take part.
The event starts at Chaowu Pier in Sun Moon Lake and is about 3,000 meters in length. It was officially included in the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2002. Every year, it attracts tens of thousands of swimming enthusiasts from all over the world, making it a “Sun Moon Lake Swimming Carnival” involving long-distance swimming across the lake.
Story
Our Puli Four-season Swim Club membership began with 46 swim-loving individuals, and continues to grow month-on-month, to this day. Now, the confines of a 50-meter swimming pool is no longer enough to contain our passion and ambitions. We often seek larger bodies of water to hold large-scale events in, culminating in one of the most famous bodies of water in the world.
Driven by a deep curiosity, our organization began holding monthly outdoor swim events at progressively larger bodies of water with one final target in mind – the world-famous Sun Moon Lake. On one hand, we wanted to offer swimmers the opportunity of overcoming the intimidating depth and distance exclusive to Sun Moon Lake. On the other hand, we believed that the limitless expanse and beauty of swimming in Sun Moon Lake could offer a therapeutic experience that only Taiwan could give. This would truly be an experience and feeling that money could not buy.
